As squirrels and humans get closer, the animals have widened their diet, in addition to veggies, berries, pecans and acorns, the animals can be seen in parks eating discarded remnants. This includes things like burger scraps, meat and sandwiches. They also purloin treats that are meant for your pets like dog food, cat food and bird seed.
Squirrels love fruits and they will eat them with great enthusiasm. If you live in a place just near a fruit tree or even a fruit bush, you may notice the animals as they much on the goodies. Squirrels are usually able to climb trees very easily so as to snatch fruit. They can also consume harvests from different trees such as citrus, mangoes, plums, figs, nectarines, peaches, avocadoes, kiwi, apples, grapes and pears. They also love berries including the mulberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries.
These animals also love cherries, cantaloupe, watermelons and bananas. It is this sugary boost that gives them that energy you see in them as they forage around for even more.
Squirrels eat vegetables too and this is a fact that many gardeners will agree with. They can consume any kind of veggies that they find.
Cereals are also on their menu. They can devour tasty treats within no time at all. The other thing that they are totally fanatical about is the nuts. They are actually totally nuts about nuts!
