What can rats climb?

When it comes to rats, their abilities should never be underestimated. They can really climb. Their physical abilities can only be compared to those of human athletes and they are actually better. To be able to handle a rat infestation, you need to appreciate those abilities if you are to keep them from workplaces, schools and homes. Rats are able to get into your home using openings that are just half an inch. This is something that you should consider when you are sealing out all those openings that you have in your home. If you leave any opening, chances are the rats will still be able to get inside. Even for smaller openings, the rats can actually gnaw and gain quick access.

Rats can climb pretty much anything. They are able to saunter on horizontal wires very easily, and rats can be able to handle even vertical wires, which is really amazing.

The other thing is that rats can be able to crawl inside vertical pipes which are only 1.5 inches in diameter. That is only 3.8 cm. They are also able to shimmy on the outside of vertical pipes that are around 3 inches in diameter.

When the plumbing pipes are around 3 inches off the wall, they can crawl up and get to whatever destination that they want to up there.

Rats are also able to jump 36 inches, which is 0.9 meters, from a surface that is flat. When a ship is sinking, these animals usually jump off last and they are able to dive and swim under the water for at least 30 seconds. When in the open water, these animals can swim up to half a mile, which is close to 0.8 km. They can also take advantage of these aquatic abilities to swim up through toilets and waste pipes.

The other thing that is quite outstanding about rats is their gnawing abilities. Since their teeth keep on growing, they attack different materials like adobe bricks, glass, cinder block, lead pipes, woods, electric wires and so on.

These are creatures that are totally outstanding, and this means that if they want to get into your home, they will get in regardless of how much you try to keep them out. The secret is to seal out all those holes using materials that they cannot be able to chew through. Professionals can really help in this arena.
